"Charlie's Charts of the West Coast of Mexico" by Charles & Margo Wood
For nearly three decades, this spiral book has been the definitive guide to cruising Mexico. It covers the marinas and anchorages from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, north in the Sea of Cortez to San Felipe, and south along the mainland coast to Puerto Chiapas/Puerto Madero (the southernmost port in Mexico). Rapid changes in marina facilities, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses have resulted in 92 pages being changed since the last edition.
The 30-page introduction provides information on topics such as entry procedures, fuel stations, firearms, provisions, money and even Montezuma's Revenge. It includes Janet Steele's Mexico A to Z with many helpful hints for shopping and getting along in Mexico.
Appendices include Maritime Nets, Radio Fax time schedules, Pinniped's GPS Waypoint List, Crew List, Glossary of mechanical terms in Spanish, ANNEXO I (the form needed to avoid payment of Customs Duties on replacement parts brought into Mexico), and an Index of Marinas and Repair Facilities.
A number of spectacular photographs by Michelle Mech add beautiful glimpses of the Mexican coast to this edition. Carl Raggio, former harbormaster at Marina Vallarta, said, "Charlie's is the cruiser's Bible - every boat has one!"
